AMTF'S JOURNEY
The journey of dedication started with registration in a two rooms clinic at a shared premises and passed milestones one after the other.
In November of 2003, AMTF was established in a two-rooms clinic with an initial capacity of five blood transfusions in an apartment located at Tariq Road, Karachi, the number of patients soon increase to 25 by the end of 2004.
Faced with a constant increase in a number of patients and subsequent space shortages, we rented a new place in the year 2005-06 near Bahadurabad. In 2007, we started our laboratory and ultrasound services.
By 2008, our registered patients pool increased to 175. The need for a bigger space brought us to our current premises; Ayesha Manzil, F.B. Area, Karachi.
In 2009, we started the first-of-its-kind inpatient services. Registered patients raised to 300 and AMTF started IPD services for Thalassemia patients. As a result our team also grew and the capacity was increased to 12 simultaneous blood transfusions and a 24-hours ER.
The journey of dedication started with registration in a two rooms clinic at a shared premises and passed milestones one after the other.
This is an unforgettable phase of our journey. We established the first-of-its-kind five beds Intensive Care Unit (ICU). This unique and state-of-the-art set up was established with the support of Government of Japan.
This phase has been very progressive for us. In 2015, we set big steps during this phase by making changes in the infrastructure, as well as in the extension of services. We built our state-of-the-art Transfusion Daycare and Blood Donor Center based on the concept published by Dr. Asim Qidwai; SALIFOME (Saving a Life In Front of My Eyes). Other milestones we achieved during this phase are: RIQAS certified Laboratory Services, Registered Blood Bank, Congenital Heart Disease Ward, Blood Donation and Advocacy Bus (RED BUS) another concept by Dr. Asim Qidwai with the help of the Govt. of Japan. High Dependency and General Ward with the support from TİKA (TURKEY), and the journey is still on going.
We currently have more than 1500 active registered blood disorder patients. The Daycare area facilitating15 transfusions in each shift. The services are uninterrupted and being offered 24/7 to the patients. AMTF is offering range of services under one roof.
